"We've built something good," he began, glancing at his daughter and Anderson. "Something worth protecting."
Mr. Brown followed his gaze. "Yes, we have."
"Our families are close," Mr. Dawson continued. "Our companies are united in vision. But we need something that can preserve this connection for the future."
Mr. Williams nodded slowly. "What are you proposing?"
Mr. Dawson took a breath.
"A covenant."
The wind stilled.
The ocean quieted.
Even the baby in Mrs. Brown's arms stopped fussing.
"A covenant?" Mrs. Williams echoed, curiosity warm in her tone.
"Yes," Mrs. Dawson said gently. "Between Melissa and Anderson."
Mrs. Brown blinked. "A contract marriage?"
"Not forced," Mr. Dawson clarified quickly. "Not binding on their hearts. Simply a protective agreement. If they grow up and choose each other naturally, the covenant stands. If not... it still unites our families legally and spiritually."
Mrs. Williams rubbed her belly with a soft sigh. "A bond for the future."
"A bond that will protect these children," Mr. Dawson said, watching Melissa run directly into Anderson's arms as a small wave frightened her. He caught her effortlessly, steadying her, shielding her.
Almost instinctively.
Mrs. Dawson smiled. "The way he cares about her already... feels like God is weaving something."
"You want to seal our families together," Mr. Brown murmured.
"Yes," Mr. Dawson replied.
"To protect our companies.
To protect our children.
To protect our future."
The three couples exchanged a long, thoughtful look-one of unity, trust, and hope.
Finally, Mrs. Williams whispered,
"Let God lead their hearts."
"And let's seal this covenant," Mrs. Dawson added.
And there on the beach, under the wide sky and gentle sun, three families made a decision that would shape destinies.
A covenant.
A promise.
A protection.
One that heaven acknowledged.
