Morta, eldest daughter of the Duke of Fate, has a dreadful, thankless job. She splits hairs, cuts seams, and trims tapestries, severing the threads of destiny with a knife sheathed in her throat, quoth the raven inscribed upon the hilt. Cardiac hemorrhaging, acute acidosis, and a loose lateral bypass-she doesn't get to choose how people die, only that they must. Adrift in the wreckage of a white-star ocean liner moments after impact, Morta carries out her grim duty, despised by those she serves. But adoration was never something she craved. Her younger sisters, Decima, the serpentine princess of love, litany, and life, and Nona, the half-blooded heiress of fertility and pain, are her only tether to tenderness. Morta adores them both, though after a botched corneal transplant, she no longer quite sees eye to eye with them. She teases Nona, the halfbreed, who bleeds at a pinprick. But when Nona suffers a devastating injury, Morta faces an impossible question: can a deity die, and if so, will she be the one to cut the cord?

This story exists because one reader believed in it first. When @StarSkylight1 imagined a world where power awakens through fear, love, and loss-and asked what happens when magic sleeps instead of burns-Eryx Vale answered. Born into a powerful bloodline, his magic vanished after a childhood accident no one could explain. While others rose, he was left behind-quiet, overlooked, and underestimated. Only one person stayed. Only one person ever stood between him and the world. Years later, when darkness comes for her, Eryx learns the truth of what he is. Some power doesn't shout. Some stars don't burn. They wait.

Orcs have always been known for being brutes, savage and sanguinary foes. Some have tried to understand them, to justify their ways by claiming that their size and the flood of hormones in their bodies make their frontal lobe less developed. That this explains why they make such perfect infantry. That war is all they can do. But that's a very shortsighted way of seeing them. Every race has its own nature, its own way of surviving. After all, if your greatest strength is brute force-wouldn't you use it? It takes something more to create an intelligent being. I don't consider orcs animals, but I do believe they stand closer to them than to us. Some even question if they have a soul. They clearly have spirituality-but then again, even birds and tigers seem to have some bond with the Creator. Are they capable of good? Or are their "good" acts nothing more than instinct-an evolutionary need to keep peace among themselves long enough to ensure new spawns? Then there are those who sink deeper, the ones who've lost even the crude laws of their kind. The outcasts. The lawless. Their own kin fear them, yet never dare to fight them. Instead, they send them away-anywhere else. Those are the ones I fear. People say, "Beware of the orcs! They are coming!" But not all come for blood. Some just want to talk, to share, to be understood-however clumsy their ways. It's the others-the ones who kill for a whim, for pleasure-those are the ones that truly terrify me 📜📜📜 -Guilliad, Cave on a mountain, 608 A5F (after 5th fracture). -Found among the belongings of a presumed explorer. The body was later recovered near the river below.

      Parts 1
Drakenshard is an ancient land, scarred by the battles of forgotten kings and the timeless presence of dragons. Craggy mountains rise like the spines of slumbering beasts, their peaks veiled in ash and storm. Forests older than any kingdom whisper in tongues long lost, and rivers run red not just from iron-rich earth, but from centuries of blood spilled in pursuit of power. The very soil breathes history, thick with magic and memory. Once ruled by the mighty House Skarn, Drakenshard was a realm of fire and order. The Skarns were dragonlords, bonded to the last true dragons of the old world-not the stunted drakes that now infest the hills, but creatures vast and sentient, their wings blotting out the sun. Their rule was harsh but just, held together by a pact older than any crown: protect the flame, protect the realm. But nothing forged in fire lasts forever. As generations passed, the might of House Skarn waned. Greedy lords and ambitious bannermen whispered treachery behind stone walls. The once-unified realm fractured, and from its shattered pieces, rival houses emerged-each hungering for a taste of dragonfire. Among them, House Thorne, born of rebellion, carved its name in blood and thorns, wielding cunning like a blade. To the north, House Ardwyn rose from icy silence, secretive and stoic, their words cold as the steel they forge. And in the swamps of the east, where mist clings to bone-white trees, House Drakmire brews its secrets in the dark, speaking with things no man dares name.

"The world is dying beautifully. Forests hum lullabies to bones, cities bloom from rot, and laughter echoes through the ruins of forgotten empires. Here, joy is a fragile madness, and wonder comes laced with dread. It's not a story of light or shadow-but of a realm where both dance, inseparable, in every breath the world takes."
