Vad gör man när äns enda familj, hamnar i fängelse - anklagas och hatas världen över för ett brott denne inte begått? Gråter en stund för att sedan gå vidare? Inte om man heter Cindy Collins. Då gör man en plan, som kräver både mod, list och en smula tur - för att rädda sin bror och börja om, starta livet på en helt ny plats med en helt ny identitet. Men resan dit är inte lätt, specielt inte eftersom den innebär att hamna i fängelset själv genom att begå ett brott, och dessutom sedan ta sig ut. Vad hon inte visste var att hennes visit bakom lås och bom skulle resultera i flera nya vänner och fiender.. Inte heller hade hon i sin vildaste fantasi kunnat ana att världens mest fruktade mördare kunde vara så kall, hotfull och rentav riktigt skrämande. Ändå kan hon inte hålla sig borta från honom, och de verkar nästan.. nästan, som att han känner något för henne med. Men även om livet känns ganska skönt, inte lika ensamt som tidigare - så ska hon och hennes bror ut igen. Det får bära eller brista. Men hon kan i alla fall bära med sig, att hon inte är det enda Freaket på denna fuckade och hemska planet som så många kallar för hem.
