Kara Phantom just turned twenty and she's done watching life from the sidelines. Armed with caffeine, curiosity, and zero connections, she dives headfirst into film school with one goal : Become a movie and TV director. The only problem? She barely knows how the industry works. Between awkward introductions, creative meltdowns, and her sarcastic roommate-turned-best-friend Silver Kurogane (who swears she's the next great screenwriter), Kara starts rewriting her own story one mistake, lesson, and late-night edit at a time. She's learning about film. She's learning about confidence. And most of all she's learning how to direct her own life. No romance. No shortcuts. Just a shy, stubborn dreamer trying to turn her scriptless life into something cinematic. ✨ A story for every girl who ever dreamed of being behind the camera.

Computer-generated imagery (CGI) has become essential in modern filmmaking, enabling the creation of fantastic worlds and breathtaking visuals that once existed only in our imaginations. But despite its dominance today, many believe that CGI will one day be seen in the same light as the foam sets and rubber monsters of classic cinema-charming, but outdated. In 20 years, will we look back and laugh at the idea that these digital creations looked "real" to us?

The twenty-second entry of the 2020-2021 Film Journal is "The Wizard of Speed and Time". Here, I recount the unusual way I discovered this previously unheard of and very obscure film. Then, I take a look at the fascinating filmmaking, stop-motion wonder, and optimistic, free-spirit sown throughout this original piece.

"What if the only thing standing between you and your dream was a series of setbacks that anyone would consider impossible to overcome?" In 'Why Know the Significance of the Film 'Royal Love Story From The Grave'', Kevin Douglas Wright shares a true journey of chasing an extraordinary dream against all odds. With no Hollywood connections, a nearly empty bank account, and zero experience, he dares to create a feature-length film. Every step forward brings unforeseen challenges: a sudden school shutdown, lost equipment, relentless rejections, and even a global pandemic. But where most would surrender, Kevin pushes forward. If you've ever felt the weight of a dream slipping away... if you've questioned whether to keep going when every road seems blocked... this story will remind you what's possible when you refuse to give up. Discover how one man's journey of grit, failure, and unlikely triumph might just inspire you to chase down your own "impossible" dreams.

Welcome to Lisbrooke, California! Come here to enjoy our beautiful beaches and perfect weather (please drink a lot of fluids as there has been a recent incident of heat exhaustion). Don't forget to take a dip into our clear waters (swimming after hours is prohibited for your own safety) and enjoy a delicious cupcake afterwards from Lisbrooke's finest (and only) dessert shop on the pier (any food fights are punishable by Miss Rosalind's wrath). P.S! Beware of the cranky, award-winning director residing on Hallot's Drive. He can be... cranky. Danger! Caution: the football player living on the outskirts of town will cause severe heart palpitations and may cause a case of cardiac arrest. We recommend you take a visit in our sleepy sea-side town to relax and go onto one hell (our apologies, Mrs. Lowe)-heck of a ride! It's the ideal place to shoot your short film and make great friends. Just remember, you're only here for the summer. ~ cover made by @synonomous ~
