The 2022-2023 Film Journal's sixty-first entry is all about the master himself, Steven Spielberg, with his film, "The Fablemans". Here, I take a look at the results and meaning of his biographical picture and discuss the disregarded importance of the man's work to me, the world, and history itself.

"Eliza Haines and Brandon Hearst," the teacher interrupts my thoughts when she calls my name. You have got to be kidding me. That's my first thought. I guess a lot of girls would feel lucky to be paired with the guy that they have liked for the past three years of their life. Not me. I can feel my heart racing, and not in a good way. I don't have time for stupid things like crushes. High school romance is a sham. It's fake, and cliché and unnecessary. I have too much planned for my life to get distracted by this kind of stuff. She is heading to New York after her high school graduation, doing everything in her power to assure her a spot in NYU, and is going to be a filmaker. Eliza and Brandon are forced together because of an assignment in their advanced English course, and they are both freaking out because of it. Eliza is worried about having the boy she likes, but who doesn't even know her, as a partner. And Brandon is surprised by the feelings he never thought he would have towards her. Between a few really personal questions, an essay, and lots of trips to the coffe shop, Brandon and Eliza might just figure out that they would be really good together. Once again, a thought that terrifies both of them.
