Beyond the Sea is an in-progress sci-fi human AU of Finding Nemo and Finding Dory that seeks to tell new stories with these characters in the context of an oceanically transformed Earth, now colloquially known as Divearth. • Ages after a cosmic Breach drew Earth's fish into the stratosphere, our world has never seemed more cleaved; coral portals shatter boundaries, while supermassive spheres of space-displacing mist distort our very sense of direction. A new sky resides beyond the rippling Surface of our own: a place called the Synestiatoll, where alien Divers attempt to reconstruct their shattered society while accommodating an influx of humans to Ark cities and asteroid colonies. Below the Surface, at the site of the Breach, the Great Barrier Reef has mutated into a towering nucleus of Cortal (coral portal) connections. Those who live there steward and guide the Reef in its perpetual transformation, as it teaches them about Divearth in turn. Many humans and Divers on the Surface believe their respective worlds to have ended, but to live on Divearth is to know there are always new beginnings to find, if you just keep swimming...
