Six strangers. One boarding house. A caretaker with rules he swears will keep them safe. They should have asked why the rules existed before they agreed to follow them. The house on the edge of the city is too large for what it costs and too quiet for what it contains. The caretaker delivers his rules at the door and disappears into the dark at the end of the hall, and by morning the rules are less comfort than they seemed, and the door at the end of the corridor is breathing, and the miniature sitting in the forbidden room has figures with faces pressed into their clay that no one should have been close enough to make. Cora has been drifting for long enough that she has stopped noticing the drift. She notices the house. She notices the bruise on her sternum that has pulsed since she crossed the threshold, shaped like a keyhole, warm in ways she cannot account for. She notices the miniature's tiny figure with her own face pressed into it with the intimacy of a mold made before she arrived. The house has forty seven names in its ledger. Eleven of them escaped. Inside these walls, nothing taken can be returned. Nothing placed inside a person comes out the way it went in. And the thing the house wants most is the one thing Cora does not yet know she has been carrying her entire life. This is not a story that flinches. It stays in the room. Count carefully. Do not open your eyes until you mean it. ©️ Relle H

Edmund comes to the remote village of Black Thickett to escape the life grief has carved out of him. He wants silence. Distance. A place where memories can't follow. But Black Thickett is wrong in quiet, unsettling ways. The broken road becomes perfectly smooth the moment he crosses the boundary. The cottages are too neat, too deliberate. And on a noticeboard full of dry flyers, only one poster is wet. A missing boy, smiling as if he doesn't know he's lost. The villagers won't talk about the disappearances. The forest at the edge of the village seems to breathe, and the deeper Edmund goes, the calmer he feels... dangerously calm. The forest can quiet his pain. It can ease his grief. It can make him forget. But not everything that heals you wants you to survive. Welcome to Black Thickett, where you'll find my entry into the ONC 2026.

In the sweltering heat of an April summer, the Abaddessa family travels from Pasay to General Trias, Cavite to inspect an old Spanish-era house that promises a fresh start. The two-story ancestral home seems perfect at first. Its polished wooden staircase, shuttered windows, and faded family portraits carry the charm of another century. But the moment young Nina glimpses a pair of glowing red eyes staring from the darkened landing, the family realizes something inside the house is watching them. As night falls, whispers echo through the halls, footsteps scrape across the roof, and voices begin mimicking loved ones with terrifying precision. Guided by the warnings of Lola Esang, the family matriarch steeped in Filipino folklore, the Abaddessas uncover the house's bloody history and the presence of an aswang lurking within its walls. Armed with blessed oil, salt lines, prayers, and ancestral rituals, the family must survive a night of escalating horror while confronting their own fears, grief, and disbelief. As the creature grows stronger in the darkness, their only hope lies in staying together and trusting the traditions they once dismissed. Red Eyes on the Stairs is a chilling Filipino supernatural horror story about family, faith, and the terrifying power of forgotten legends.

When reclusive novelist Bianca Thorne retreats to her late grandmother's cabin deep in the snow-covered woods, she's seeking silence - a place to write, to forget, to rebuild. The locals warn her the forest isn't kind to outsiders, but Bianca isn't an outsider. The cabin has been in her family for generations. At first, the isolation feels almost peaceful. Until the nights stretch too long, and the trees start whispering her name. Pages she doesn't remember writing appear on her desk. The air tastes of metal. And the townsfolk who once seemed so kind - the shopkeeper, the sheriff, the woman who brings her supplies - start showing up uninvited, asking strange, quiet questions about her writing. As the blizzard closes in, Bianca realizes she's not alone out there - and that the people she trusted may not be people at all. Something ancient, bound to her bloodline and the woods themselves, is waiting for her to finish the story it began. Because the cabin doesn't just want her words. It wants her.

For siblings Alex and Maya, it was supposed to be a simple road trip to their grandparents' house-one last taste of freedom for Alex before university, one last boring car ride for Maya. But when their car dies on a lonely, forgotten B-road with no phone signal, their journey takes a terrifying detour. Their only hope is a quaint village on an old wooden sign: Havenwood. At first, it seems like a miracle-a picture-perfect town of cobblestone streets and friendly, welcoming locals, a peaceful haven untouched by the modern world. But the perfection is a mask. The welcome is a little too wide, the smiles a little too fixed. And the entire valley is shrouded in an unnatural, deathly silence. Their attempts to leave are futile. Every road out of Havenwood mysteriously loops back to the town square, a disorienting, impossible trap. With no way to contact the outside world, a chilling realization dawns: their breakdown wasn't an accident, it was an invitation. The townspeople are not hosts; they are keepers. And they have a simple, terrifying message: once you arrive in Havenwood, you are welcome to stay. Forever. The true horror of Havenwood isn't its roads, but its insidious influence. The town has a way of making you forget-your home, your memories, the person you used to be. As Alex finds himself seduced by the town's placid, stress-free existence, his own identity beginning to fray, it falls to Maya to be the anchor for their past. She must fight against a creeping mental fog that threatens to erase them completely and turn them into another pair of smiling, empty-eyed residents. To escape, they must uncover the ancient secret at the heart of the town's idyllic facade. But how do you escape a prison that convinces you it's a paradise? And if they manage to break free, what parts of themselves will they be forced to leave behind?

In the quiet Yorkshire village of Hawley, nothing ever truly changes - or so it seems. On the last day of summer, eleven-year-old Isobel "Izzy" Hartley and her friends welcome a new girl into their circle. But when a strange wind sweeps across the moors and leads them to a boy left for dead among shattered mirrors, Hawley begins to unravel. The boy, Cedric, remembers nothing of how he arrived there - only the feeling that something followed him through the glass. As Cedric struggles to understand the world he's woken into, Izzy is forced to confront memories she has spent years avoiding, while the village itself reveals cracks in its history: distorted reflections, missing time, and an ancient presence tied to the moors and maybe Cedric himself. What began as curiosity turns into consequence. Friendships are tested. Secrets surface. And as the mirror-world presses closer, the children realise that Hawley is not haunted by ghosts - but by something that watches, waits, and remembers. Because the moors do not call everyone. And once they choose you, they never truly let you go.
