Angel's heart raced at the challenge in Chrishain's voice. There was something magnetic about him, a pull that made Angel forget the darkness that often enveloped him. "What are you afraid of, Chrishain?" It slipped out before he could stop himself, curiosity and defiance mingling in the air between them.
"Fear? Nah, I don't do fear," Chrishain replied, his voice dropping slightly. But the way his eyes flickered hinted that there was more to the story. "But I guess... maybe I'm afraid of being stuck in this place forever. You know?"
Angel felt a pang of understanding, a shared vulnerability that cut through their usual bravado. "Yeah, I get that," he admitted, his voice softer now. "Sometimes it feels like we're trapped in a cage, and all we can do is watch the world pass us by."
"Then let's break free," Chrishain declared, his expression fierce and resolute. "We've got to live while we can, right? Life's too short for regrets."
The words hung in the air, heavy with possibility. They could be reckless, could embrace the chaos of their lives and each other. Angel felt something shift within him, a spark igniting in the depths of his chest. "You really think we can?"
"Together? Absolutely," Chrishain said, his smile brightening the dimness of the hallway.
