Misophonia. A mental disorder easily described as the "hatred of sound." But it goes so much deeper. In this book I hope to describe as best as I possibly can what it is like in the mind of a misophoniac, like myself. The extremities of the struggles of having this disorder and the challenges we face.
There are very few known cases in the world. It is a rare disorder that many people either don't realize they have or they do not know what to do about it. Maybe just ignore it or push it aside. There are very few that actually do something about it. In some cases it just disappears. In others, the person lives with it for their entire lives.
With misophonia comes "trigger sounds." Specific sounds that make a person extremely angry or sad to the point of not knowing how to express it. They have to hold it in until the sound stops. Common "trigger sounds" include keyboard clicking, pen clicking, pencil tapping, chewing, bubblegum popping, and more. Just the smallest sounds set a misophonic off. Off to a place that seems like it is not escapable.
Anyways, please enjoy my story. My life, as a person with misophonia.
