Characters: Michael Moore ("Brains"): The main character. A smart but anxious high school student who feels more comfortable dealing with facts and figures than his own emotions. He uses a quiet, sarcastic exterior to protect himself but deeply values genuine connection. Kate Davis ("Beauty"): The charming and incredibly popular student at school who seems to have it all together. While she acts confident and dramatic in public, she carries hidden vulnerabilities and struggles with a deep sense of loneliness. Bailee Moore: Michael's perceptive and energetic twelve-year-old younger sister. She is emotionally honest, speaks her mind when her family is in conflict, and wants nothing more than to see her older brother happy. Nellie Anderson: Michael's mature, observant, and fiercely loyal best friend. She can read people effortlessly and acts as a grounding force, always putting the long-term happiness of her friends first. Charlie Harris: Michael's outgoing, high-energy best friend who brings humor to every situation. He is a supportive companion who uses lighthearted teasing to lift the mood and keep his friends from overthinking. Gia & Emily: Noah's tight-knit group of protective friends. They are highly defensive of their social circle, skeptical of outsiders, and quick to speak their minds when someone unfamiliar tries to join their group. Plot Summary: Michael, a guarded student, finds his structured life disrupted when popular classmate Kate requests secret math tutoring. These private sessions create a complex connection that challenges their very different social standings. As tensions rise, their respective friend groups clash, forcing both Michael and Kate to navigate high school hierarchies and personal vulnerabilities. Ultimately, they must decide whether to maintain their protective social masks or embrace a sincere friendship that defies school labels.
