He arrived with a duffel bag, a stethoscope, and briefing materials he'd already read three times. Brian Shilling is a first-year pediatric resident from Bristol - not a soldier, not a diplomat, not anyone remarkable. When the Galactic Medical Exchange Program sends him to the Orun Kingdom as their first human placement, he brings what he always brings: the habit of watching before speaking, the discipline of staying in the room when things get hard, and a quiet way of seeing what's actually there rather than what he expects. The Orun know what humans are. The classification is in the records. What the records didn't prepare them for is this one - the one who requests a palace guard for his pediatric consultations because he's thought carefully about what his presence might cost a small patient. Seren Velaath-Orun is the First Daughter of the Orun Seat - xenobiologist, heir designate, and the kind of person who has been managed and assessed by everyone around her for her entire adult life. She has been carrying a secret that could reshape her kingdom's politics for eleven months. She has been carrying it alone. She is not waiting for him. She doesn't know she needs him. He arrives in the middle of everything she's already doing. He doesn't fix it. He doesn't save her. He just stays in the room - which turns out to be the one thing she's never had before. Slow-burn HFY romance. No chosen one. No speeches. Just two people in the same building, paying the right kind of attention. Cover: AI-generated image, prompt by author. This story was made with AI assistance. The concept, characters, and creative direction are mine. The prose was written collaboratively with AI tools under my direction.

Kaiden Woods, a gritty Earth mechanic, is summoned by the Arcasian Empress to fix the "Cosmic Forger," an ancient machine worshiped as a god that is radiating galactic panic. Battling dogmatic priests who view her methods as heresy and a sabotage device inducing psychic despair, Kaiden discovers the machine's creators were engineers, not deities. Using "primitive" percussive maintenance, she reboots the system, shattering religious dogma and proving that even gods need a good mechanic.

The tumultuous 1960s has brought about the beginnings of Humanity's first steps into the cosmos. The Cold War was just nearing its peak, however the advent of Yuri Gagarin's flight in 1969 brought about large-scale reforms in all of the major world powers. After a limited nuclear exchange had taken place between the late 1950s and early 1960s, the devastating weapons of war were set aside and placed in storage before a new organization built on the concepts of Understanding, Unity, Trust, Equality, Discovery and Humanity First came into being. Visionaries were elected into positions of power, technological development accelerated ten-fold, and by the early 1980s; an age of enlightenment and science had begun. It is now 2230; the dawn of Humanity's golden age, and the newest flagship of the United Terran Federation Navy is nearing completion. As the launch date draws ever closer; all eyes look outwards beyond the edge of the fledgling Federation's borders and think back on the lyrics of an ancient song from the Early Space Age; "Glory to those who look forward! Glory to those who go forward! Our path starts from the present To the coming years!"

Fandom/Setting: Dark Fate (Stuart Grosse) - System Apocalypse / Ceresan Empire. Genre: #HFY • Sci-Fi • LitRPG • Space War The galaxy taught itself to fear the System. Then it met the species that learned to weaponize hope. When the System turned Earth into a stat-driven nightmare, humanity survived by becoming something... harder. Now the Ceresan Empire's navy is burning through Incux space-shattering "cattle worlds" one chain at a time. Savax of the Iscand Clan arrives on an exchange program expecting swagger and brutality. What he finds aboard a human warship is worse (and better): discipline, kindness, and a calm willingness to do the impossible. Cattle World Three is next. The Incux are waiting. And the humans? The humans brought, engineers. Content / Trigger Notes (recommended): violence, war, slavery themes (non-graphic), body-horror adjacent (aliens), strong language (light). (This fanfic avoids the explicit/non-consensual content warned for in the original series blurbs.)

Teen (violence and peril, no explicit content), Violence, space combat, implied mass casualties avoided by extreme measures Vasiliki Ioannidou was supposed to be done with war. Ex-United Earth Defence Force, now officially "Custodial Services" on Andromeda Research Annex Sigma-4, her job is simple: keep the floors clean and the scientists happy. Let the Galactic Synod worry about politics and security. When the notorious Black Wave Corsairs slam boarding clamps onto the hidden station, everything goes wrong at once. Comms are jammed, the security grid is compromised, and a pirate strike team heads straight for Theta-Sector home of the experimental Psi-Lattice, a research project powerful enough to crack worlds. With command hesitating and enemies already inside, the only person in the right place with the right access is the one nobody's looking at: the human janitor. Vasiliki still has her old UEDF exosuit, her mop, and something the pirates and politicians both underestimate:- a Deathworlder's instinct for cleaning up the worst messes. When she unlocks buried human infrastructure codes and triggers a Denial Protocol that dumps an entire research sector into a black hole, the station is saved... and the shockwaves hit the Galactic Synod harder than any boarding torpedo. Now the galaxy has to face an uncomfortable truth: if this is what a janitor does when things go bad... what else are humans capable of? And yes I admit it, I recycled names etc. from numerous other #HFY & #HaSO stories.

---BEWARE OF THE DEAD AHEAD--- Step into the bloodied, dirt flecked boots of presumably the last active Sheriff of America, Bill Clark, as he tries to put the law back into a country tainted by banditry, and ruined by a pandemic that turns what once people in horrendous flesh-eating green-skinned mutants. A fucked-up world such as this, where your old life is gone, never to return again, even if things go back to normal, can change a person, but no one ever thought that a person can change a fucked-up world. "We make the world what it is by what we do," are the words he chose to live by. Join him in his mission to band together groups of survivors, reunite a broken country, and create a new world from the ashes of the old. Only needing his trusty rifle, an M60 machine gun, a journal that he intends to turn into a survival guide, and a bus. While the word "Sheriff" means nothing anymore at this day and age, his badge, and the responsibility that rests upon it definitely still carries on. No matter how many he had lost, friends, family, loved ones, what's more important is to change the world for the better, so that future generations can still live on, and prove that humanity will triumph over every trials that's been thrown at them. The world can recover, and become better than it was before, thanks to people like Sheriff Bill, who will do what it takes for that wishful thinking to come alive, even if it means sacrificing one's morals and humanity. "So burn us in the furnace, let our souls ignite the flames, use our bones to stoke the embers, use our blood to oil the chains. We're nothing more but engines, rending flesh to find a way, and as we fall, we know we die to light a brighter day." It's time for the Sheriff to bring back the law to this lost world. Pray the future that they're building will be worth its weight in lives.

Near the bottom of the gorge Mavrek could see the wreckage. It was indeed the remains of an escape pod. He approached cautiously, picking over the loose rocks one at a time. He wondered if the creature inside was dangerous and prayed it would not attack him. He clambered to the bottom of the gorge. There was an unsettling sound emanating from the pod. It was a very high pitched wail that continued on far longer than it should have. Steeling himself, Mavrek took a breath and opened the pod's damaged door.
