A fan-fiction wherein modern-day teen, Carter Jackson, gets transmigrated into one of his favorite Chinese novels, "Tian Guan Ci Fu" also known as "Heaven Official's Blessing". Well, it wouldn't have been so bad. He would've lived as a normal 'clueless' civilian who had no idea what the future held. The only thing that worried him was.. .. I am still a beginner when it comes to Chinese terms and generally, the language as well- so I will be using my small amount of knowledge in this story. Hua Cheng is reluctant when Xie Lian has to leave for two weeks. It's a mission to capture this demon, the god claims, that's been tormenting villages in the East for a while now. Hua Cheng is disappointed that he cannot follow, but knows he must let His Highness go. But when Xie Lian returns two days later, something is wrong. He's cold, and cruel towards Hua Cheng- some might even say abusive. The Ghost King is hurt, confused. He asks himself what he did wrong. Why Xie Lian is acting like this. Their relationship starts to teeter over the edge. Is there anything he can do for fix it? Lots of angst!!! HuaLian are so darn precious... I know that scene where they rush into each other's arms at the end, when Hua Cheng returns a year after that fateful battle of Mt. Tonglu, required no words between them, the way MXTX wrote it.... It was perfect. But, but, I wondered what they would say to each other in the next moment, the moment after they had run into each other's arms. The three thousand lanterns in the sky... and so I wrote this little scene. PS: I am not an ungrateful fan :D Ofc we did get that epilogue with the inauguration of the rebuilt Puqi shrine and the calligraphy at Qiandeng Temple, and I am grateful for the extras... thank you, MXTX for being so gracious with those extras. ************************************************************************************************* No copyright infringement intended. Although most find their fated ones shortly after their soulmate's name appears on their skin at the age of 20, Xie Lian is yet to find his at the age of 25. What makes it worst was the unreadable and horrifying caligraphy! There was just absolutely no way of even searching for his fated one. In the end, the wait was worth it. A match made in heaven. This is Xie Lian's eureka moment, that night at Qiandeng Temple that he realizes what it is that he actually feels for Hua Cheng, despite all their excuses of exchanging air and borrowing spiritual powers and what not... He has a million questions, something foggy and elusive at the edge of his 800+ years of memory, and one thing he's now sure of - his feelings for the one he held in his arms all night.
