The fact that mythical creatures such as werewolves existed amongst humans has been known for centuries, that did not mean that they lived in harmony. Humans still feared these creatures.
They had for a long time been separated, there were specific schools, stores and even cities that separated the two species.
With the population of werewolves decreasing for them not being able to find their mates that in some cases happened to be humans who rejected them out of fear they had come to a conclusion that this separation will be no more. They will now be able to live amongst humans, study amongst humans and be able to find their true mates and rebuild their population and hopefully create a harmonious life between them and the humans.
JYP high is a school in Seoul that was specifically built to connect the two, making it so humans and werewolves had to attend school together. With the ability to find their mate at the age of 16, most werewolves already knew who they were. There was a specific group who knew exactly who their mates were, the separation the only reason as to why they had not approached them.
Jisung is new to Seoul, and he feared the creatures that roamed freely in the city.
Felix is broken, being used for people's pleasure he has lost trust in those who claimed that loved him.
Seungmin has always prioritized his studies and has always had a hard time talking with people and making friends, at least ones that would stay.
Jeongin has always been an outsider, too shy to make friends and too weak to stand up to his bullies.
