I read the Grishaverse duologies and don't know how to deal with it so this a piece of self service about Kaz finally telling his friends about his backstory. The kanej story I personally wanted to read but couldn't find a good one so I'm writing it myself. TW mentions of sa, abuse, death, blood, anxiety, PTSD, and touch aversion/haphephobia and other disturbing topics. *((SHADOW AND BONE AND SIX OF CROWS SPOILERS))* also contains other ships such as wesper and helnik/matthina "I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker, or I will not have you at all." After leaving for a year, Inej Ghafa comes back to Ketterdam. They want each other, that much is obvious. But it's not that easy to obtain Kaz's full self. Inej will have to help him slowly rearrange his broken pieces into a semblance of a man. But what will they have to go through to get his wall to break and his heart to be fixed? Who would've thought that the group who try to save the kingdom would be one like this?

No mourners, no funerals. It passed for good luck. As if every criminal didn't know its true meaning, that they were nothing but barrel rats crawling through the gutter. They said it, as if they didn't know that one day, they would die and the world would not bat a lash. Not a single person would care, mourn or cry. The barrel rats were an infestation, a mass of scrabbling bodies all fighting to survive. They knew better then to let their hopes be high, or their hearts be as soft as their hide.
