This is placed in the beginning of the first httyd movie as the teens are about to start dragon training. Here Cloudjumper took both Hiccup and Valka with him. Hiccup was the first one to not threaten him, and Valka -also not threatening- was the babys mother witch he couldn't leave the baby without. And so Stoick was left alone in his burning house with no family left.

Now he knew exactly how toothless felt as the roles of this land were kind of reversed. However, this too brought so many questions. What were they going to do?
