This is a review and my thoughts on the new Pokémon movie

Leaf is champion of four other regions. She heads to the Unova region to become the champion there as well. She meets with Bianca and Cheren and they help her along the way. But she can't become champion quite yet. The Team Plasma guys are trying to "liberate" pokemon. And then the mysterious N comes along. He talks of legends and a "new" Unova region. What will become of Leaf in all these situations? Will romance bloom out of nowhere? Will she get to be champion? Read it to find out.

The twenty-sixth entry of the 2020-2021 Film Journal is "Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle". Yet another film delayed by the pandemic, I first give a personal and relatively abridged account of my long history with this beloved franchise and what this new era of Pokémon films has meant for me. Then, I take a look at the film's unique take on the "Tarzan" legend and spins on classic series tenets.

Her friends only call her when they have no one else, her older sister lives with her boyfriend and makes no effort to keep in touch with her, her father is always busy working, and her mother passed away in a tragic car accident when she was only two years old. Lavender is no one's priority. However, to keep herself occupied, she finds entertainment in writing and reading- the only two things that allow her to escape the reality that is her boring life. The summer before Lavender's freshman year of college, her black and white life becomes much more colorful. Her father reveals to her that he must spend the entire summer in Italy on business. Lavender is disappointed to find out that she will not be joining him, but instead be spending her summer at Camp Stride- a rich kid "camp" where instead of tents and log cabins there are intricate buildings that resemble a college campus right on the lake. It really shouldn't be called a camp. CS is practically a pre-college program where privileged teenagers spend their time drinking, partying, and doing whatever the hell they want while their parents are away making millions. Lavender is nothing like the people at Camp Stride, and she wants nothing to do with any of them. Or at least that's what she thought until he came into her life and complicated everything she thought she knew about herself. *** *Updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday*
