WHAT WE OWE follows Noah Brooks, a white boy adopted into a Black family in Chicago. After losing his father at a young age, Noah grows up watching his mother work herself to exhaustion just to keep their lives together. More than anything, he wants to make enough money so she never has to struggle again.
Through his cousin Rio, Noah is introduced to Saint and the world surrounding him. What begins as a way to make quick money soon gives Noah something he has spent his entire life searching for: a place where he truly belongs. A family.
But when someone Noah cares deeply about is killed in an attack meant for him, he becomes obsessed with finding the person responsible. His search for revenge pulls him deeper into a web of secrets, forcing him to question the very people he trusts most.
WHAT WE OWE is a dark crime thriller about family, loyalty, identity, grief, and revenge-and how far you are willing to go for the people who gave you a place to belong.
