His skin was too tough to crawl under. His walls were too high to climb. His mind was too black to see. His true heart was too far to reach. It was as if he locked himself away deep in his own dungeon designed to be his personal asylum with only him being the resident inside, bound in tight chains and forced to sit in his own filth, with the public persona he wore being the warden. He didn't even want to leave the comfortable dread of that prison. Perhaps if you took the time to get closer, you could obtain the keys to unlock his figurative barred cell, open the door, and free him of his shackles so he could feel comfortable bringing his original character back to the light.

Believing this lie, jack willing works and trains with the circus for eight years straight with no one ever finding him. He has come to accept this life and lives peaceful until someone from his past shows up and brings out his true dark colors.

December 24th, xxxx 23:30 "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." I mutter to myself. I glance past the edge of the couch I am hiding behind. I can't see anything. It's just black, a dark nothingness. It's so empty, I can feel myself being swallowed up by it. Then I see it, a sudden movement by the hallway. It is so small I almost missed it. There in the hall is a Jack-in-a-box. A child's toy.
