Marco, an 18 year old who works at Starbucks to help support his family. Marco helps him out after finding him beaten and bloody in the ally behind his workplace. (I can't picture either of their canon mothers as homophobic, and the only reason I made Jean's mom homophobic was to add to the story.)

I've always been a huge fan of headcanons. so many different people, and so many different ways to edit a story.
