Dylan, Denise, Joanna, Jolene, Cinder & Catina are all very different. Or are they... Dylan is one of the most popular girls at school - all day long she has to make sure that her make-up, hair and clothes look perfect. Denise is the assistant of the fashion club - her job is to collect the other members designs and write lists of the latest trends. Joanna is the camera-girl of the drama club - her job is to film rehearsals and scenes for projects they're working on. Jolene is vice-captain of the Sports club - her job is to run and get the nurse if anyone is injured and to type up PowerPoints on the scores of matches they've played. Cinder is the vice-president of the environmentalist club - her job is to write down the plans that the president has confirmed, and to water all of the plants. Catina is the assistant of the pet lovers club - her job is to stick up new photos of everyone's pets onto the pet board, to write up lists of requirements for the next meetings. They all long to try other clubs and to be valued as proper members of the clubs they are in. But another thing they have in common: they're all too scared to change their situations. Every day, they all go to the library to get away from their problems and relax. One day (after a set-up by the librarians), they meet in the Mixed genres section, and get to know each other. They start going there every day, and they always have lots of fun talking about books, films, and fashion. Everyone calls them the lunchtime girls because they only ever go to the library at lunch. But they could never be friends outside of the library, right? But at the beginning of the new school year, they are put in the same class . . . along with the club leaders. Maybe, just maybe, they could be real friends, but with the leaders in their class, it's hard. But then they are partnered up for a project, and suddenly everything changes.. Can they help each other? Or will things be like this forever?
