Biddy is 15 and fed up. She has just split with her boyfriend and hates the world. Having nothing better to do, she finds herself on a day trip with good old mum and dad. However, this is going on a trip that she will not forget in a hurry.

Wild cinnamon brown curls. Curious eyes and a quirky smile. Ripped jeans and band shirts. Mixed patterns and strange colors. Brief moments of strength. Kar White. Whose name during role call makes all the teachers laugh (White car, ha ha). Whose father thought the name Kara was "too girly". Who dreams without sleeping. Who has a fiery temper and a messy past with a careless boy. *** When Kar comes back to her hometown, San Diego, California, after basically a year of vacation in the "City of Love", Paris France, she never expects her old life and high school to come and hit her smack dab in the nose, demanding answers. It's tough to keep sight of who you are and what you want for yourself when surrounded by people who live, eat and breath society's acceptance, and are willing to do whatever is asked to obtain it. But the young are meant to be united and strong. Brake through the surface, and own your life. You've only got one.

No, it wasn't love at first sight. I don't believe in that stuff. It was love at first catch. *** I don't talk to many people. Maybe my friends like Kat, but not to many other people. I'm short, Hispanic, and-not to brag but-multi-super smart. Andy, he's taller than me. Well, I wouldn't know. From afar, he seems shorter than most. Kat says he's my 'perfect height.' Whatever the heck that means. So in a football game he majorly overshot. Who would've thought I'd be the one to catch the ball from the stands. Front row maybe, but me, I caught it!

Sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.
