Ayana's homecoming brings her face-to-face with her past, including her ex-boyfriend Leonard, who has taken on the persona of the supervillain Captain Cold. Their reunion is marked by a mix of complicated emotions as they navigate their shared history and the changes they have undergone individually.

The drunk driver and her mother hadn't made it alive, but somehow Jocelyn did. The doctors say it was a miracle, but Jocelyn would have rather died that day than face the fate she was facing today. Ever since that day she has seen ghosts. People with knives stuck in their bodies, blood head to toe. It still gives her nightmares. People thought she was crazy. Or maybe it was just signs of PTSD. Jocelyn still believes that she saw them, but when she was 17 the ghosts stopped showing up, and Jocelyn believed she had finally gotten over her fears. The ghosts haven't appeared ever again.
