These poems are about child abuse. All these writings are written in the voice of one of my characters who is a teenage boy undergoing physical abuse which only escalates when his best friends leaves town. These poems are about his abuse and his attempt to overcome his struggles. - F.D.

"I had every intention of going. Traveling to new cities and eating strange foods. Taking way too many pictures and posting them on Instagram so everyone could see how much fun I was having. I really had every intention of going. I am going to do all of those things, I swear. Just not exactly in the place I said I was going to." Alexa did everything she was supposed to. She graduated college with a 4.0, got proposed to by her high school sweetheart and even agreed to go to graduate school to appease her parents. But this summer was different. And her parents agreed. Well, they agreed to pay for her to study abroad for the summer without fully knowing her plans of ditching it to become a concert photographer. One summer. It only takes three short months to throw all of Alexa's plans down the drain. It could have been the tour's fault or even that stupid, tattooed drummer. But as long as her life back home doesn't catch up to her, what will it hurt?
