Yet when she hears rumours spreading, she finds that she is unsettled and anxious about the young King. The Lightning Girl also has several unanswered questions, and she knows the King of Norta has the answers. After planning how to get into the palace, Mare isn't so sure how the man that she had run away from will react to her sudden appearance. Find out what happens in this AU Fanfiction for Red Queen. This story is inspired by the events that take place in Jane Eyre. All characters except a couple are Victoria Aveyard's. I am just using them for my fanfiction. Please note that there will be spoilers if you haven't read Red Queen or Glass Sword yet, but it will be spoiler free for King's Cage. Gutmütig, freundlich und vor allem eine Gegnerin der Rotenunterdrückung. Ihr ganzes Leben ändert sich aber schlagartig, als ein rotes Mädchen einem Lichtblitz gleich durch einen elektrischen Schutzschild in eine Arena fällt. Eigentlich sollte diese tot sein, aber stattdessen zerstört sie unabsichtlich Kendra's Fast-Verlobung, heiratet bald in die königliche Familie ein und zettelt eine Rebellion an, bei der Kendra sofort mitmacht. Eines Nachts läuft sie einem roten Jungen namens Kilorn Warren, der sich gerade zusammen mit der Scharlachroten Garde, einer Rebellionsgruppe, ins Schloss einschleusen will, über den Weg und hinterlässt einen verwunderlichen Eindruck bei dem Fischerjungen aus Stilts, einem kleinen Dorf am Fluss. Als der Krieg und Mavens Herrschaft beginnt, flüchtet sie zur Scharlachroten Garde. Aber nicht allein, sondern gleich noch mit ihren Geschwistern. Die Spaltung der Häuser am Hof führt dann auch noch dazu, dass Haus Osanos sich ganz der Garde anschließt. Doch egal wie oft Kendra ihre Treue beweist, Kilorn will ihr einfach nicht trauen oder gar sehen, was sie für ihn empfindet. Denn es gibt immer nur Mare. Außerdem ist er der Überzeugung, alle Silbernen wären Monster und lässt Kendra einfach keine Chance, sich zu beweisen. Ein erschütterndes Ereignis jedoch bringt ihn dazu, seine Einstellung in Frage zu stellen.

Naturally, he orchestrated the whole incident. A paradigm rags-to-riches success story unfolds, and as the seventeen-year-old climbs up the levels of social class, she dances a dangerous game of love and betrayal when lies are told and secrets are revealed. The gang Mare belongs to, the Scarlet Street Fighters, and the Calore clan are brutal enemies, and the girl, simple as the blood in her veins, is caught right in the crossfire of their bloody war. Mare soon discovers that the Calore family not only has a passion for ballet dancing, but an obsession for power and money. It seems that the Calores control everything, including her own life. And yet, Mare Barrow wonders if the risk of destroying the Calores and their dynasty is worth everything that she's ever wanted.
