Nineteen-year-old Austin is perfectly content with his quiet life among the dust and yellowed paper of Brooks' Curiosities. But his mundane routine is shattered when he uncovers an ancient, locked book that pulses with a physical heartbeat. When its text literally migrates from the page onto his skin, Austin triggers his first "Ink-Bleed"-awakening a dangerous lineage of reality-altering magic known as Scriptomancy. He isn't just a reader; he is a vessel for the world's original draft.
As Austin struggles to control a power where a single erased word can physically dismantle a room, he crosses paths with Gwendolyn, a girl who sees the world through a terrifying "Third Eye." While Austin wields the ink, Gwen sees the "static" and hidden metadata of reality. They are two sides of the same coin, and they've caught their city, Veyra, at the worst possible moment.
History is vanishing. Century-old maps are fading to blank parchment, and citizens are waking up with no memory of their own names or families. A sinister, invisible force known as The Inkwell is systematically rewriting Veyra to fit a dark "house style," deploying faceless, terrifying Censors to delete anyone who doesn't fit the new script.
