Leo's jaw tightened as he watched Hurrem laughing with someone else across the room. The sound shouldn't have bothered him. It shouldn't have meant anything at all.
Yet somehow, it did.
When she turned to leave, he stepped into her path, forcing her to stop. The hallway suddenly felt much smaller than before.
"You've been avoiding me all day," he said quietly.
Hurrem crossed her arms. "And you've been glaring at everyone all day."
A flicker of amusement crossed his face before disappearing.
"Maybe they gave me a reason."
"Or maybe you're just impossible."
For a moment, neither of them moved. The tension between them was impossible to ignore, filled with things neither of them was willing to say.
Then Hurrem shook her head and walked away, leaving Leo standing there with a storm of emotions he couldn't quite control...
