In a world besieged by the Abyssal Iris a dimensional rift in the ocean vomiting forth nightmares known as Hollow-Fiends humanity's only defense is the Extinguishers. These are warriors born with Hereditary Malice, a curse that grants them devastating power but threatens to turn them into demons if they push too far. To be an Extinguisher is to live on a timer. Every blast of fire, every strike of lightning, and every feat of strength darkens their Blood-Seal (Halo). When the Halo turns black, the hero becomes the monster.

After saving Hyrule from the Calmaity, Link and Zelda head out on their journey to return the kingdom to its former glory. The one thing they didn't expect to happen after the disastrous events to follow the first attack of Gannon, was that his next, stronger attack, waiting for them in the darkness...and it's not what they thought. It is something that might end, the Kingdom of Hyrule for good. Despite his ever-increasing fear of the house and this town, not to mention feelings that he is being watched by an unknown force, he is drawn to enter the home.
