America Singer is being sent to Angeles Prep. A pristine school for princesses and princes in training, created by King Clarkson of Illea, in Angeles Illea. America is a princess in training. Her sister Kenna married Prince James of Carolina making her queen, and America a princess in training. America never got to see her new palace home or her sister Kenna in fancy clothes. She was rushed off to Angeles Prep because "she wasn't ready to be a princess" But Prince Maxon is their looking for a wife and he sees America as the perfect one. But little does he know, he's met his match.

Maxon looked like an angel. His golden hair was slicked back, and his tight tuxedo defined his strong arms. He looked over at me and winked. Heat crept up my cheeks as I averted my eyes and focused on the wine in front of me. As I took a sip, the world sort of faded, and there was Maxon, standing tall. Right in front of me, with a bright smile overtaking his face. He put a hand on my shoulder and guided me to the dance floor. It was empty. Suddenly, out of nowhere, an orchestra appeared and started playing the slowest music I had ever heard. He put a hand on my waist as I looped my arms around his neck. We swayed to the music for a moment before he dipped his head downwards and tilted my chin. I closed my eyes, anticipating the sweet kiss that would soon be on my lips. We were getting closer, and closer, and closer. . . Suddenly, the arms around my waist disappeared. I opened my eyes, only to see the orchestra gone and America playing the violin instead. Maxon was right in front of her, with an adoring smile on his face. She stopped playing, and pulled Maxon down for the kiss that I lost. I screamed. I did not come up with all these characters! Marissa Meyer wrote The Lunar Chronicles and came up with most of them. But you would know who's from what if you've read the books and if you haven't, why are you reading this? It won't make sense, and you won't fangirl. What's the point with that? Anyway, you do you gurl! (or whatever sexuality you identify with. I really don't care. Be you, because you are Be You Tiful. Heehee, see what I did there? Okay, never mind. During the Selection, America is pregnant with Maxon's child. Just as Maxon announces his future wife, rebels fire into the castle. America is a victim to the bullets and Maxon is unaware of America's condition.
