I wrote this book because I've spent years watching intelligent, capable professionals struggle with the same communication challenges over and over again. Not because they're not smart enough. Not because they don't care enough. But because nobody ever taught them the fundamental principles of how communication actually works in groups. They were thrown into teams and told to collaborate. Told to "communicate better." Told to "work together." But nobody explained what that actually means. Nobody gave them a framework for understanding why groups succeed or fail. Writing with brutal honesty, she reminisces over her first loves, one night stands, online dating history, the short affair she had with an ACTUAL millionaire, and finally the so-called love of her life, who has just walked out on her. Each chapter represents another phase in her life and another failed attempt at securing a movie worthy love story. Throughout the journey, the reader is privy to Olivia's views on life as a millennial, homosexuality, friendships, ambition, body confidence, and ultimately, love.

With just her laptop and witty sarcasm, she'll find out that the new world, even without zombies or nuclear war, may not be so different from those fictions. A millennial girl has to find her way home--without a GPS and only herself to talk to.

alex standall is the new kid and it was weird enough that he wouldn't tell anyone why he transferred schools. dani was the only one willing to let him join her group probably because she was the only one who hadn't heard any of the rumors considering she didn't even bother with them in the first place. alex standall is struggling to leave his past behind but when the rumors aren't just lies anymore he's left to face his past and relive some memories. this book will include justin and probably some other characters eventually. it will definitely be referencing them though. note: so this book is about a character from 13 reasons why so it's pretty safe to assume that this book will talk about some pretty heavy topics and it may include spoilers if you want to even call them that. also, the book has au in the title for a reason, this is my story therefore some things will be changed from the book and the show for the sake of the story, nothing major but i don't want any issues over minor details. also you can call it a miles heizer fic if you want, but i'm personally writing the character and seeing the character as alex.
