He prayed for her in the dark. She begged to God for him to let her go. Ky'leigh Ace thought loving a man like Julian "Toro" Cortez was just part of growing up in the Southside. But when he got locked up, she found out the truth: being in love with a gang member was one thing-raising his daughter alone was another. Six years later, he's back. Fresh out. Full of pain, pride, and poison. But Ky has changed. She's colder now. Stronger. Smarter. And she's been keeping Jurnee away from the streets. But Julian doesn't play when it comes to his daughter. Or Ky. In the world they come from, love ain't sweet-it's war. And every night, somebody's out there whispering a Lover's Prayer just to survive it.

Meet Grace, a resilient 47-year-old African American woman. She's a devoted mother and wife, having celebrated 25 years of marriage. Her world revolves around her family, which includes a 19-year-old son and a 23-year-old daughter. However, in the aftermath of a devastating global pandemic, life has taken an unexpected turn for her and her children. The family grapples with the weight of post-pandemic depression. Grace, like her children, bears her own struggles with depression but chooses to keep moving forward, determined to be the rock her family needs. Despite her unwavering dedication and years of experience, Grace finds herself at odds with a world that seems to have forgotten her. She faces relentless abuse at her workplace, enduring the taunts and discrimination of her much younger coworkers. Determined not to give in, Grace embarks on a challenging journey. She must navigate the harsh reality of ageism in a job market that appears tailored for the younger Gen Z generation. Despite the obstacles in her path, she refuses to surrender to the sense of obsolescence that threatens to consume her. "Beneath the Surface" is a poignant tale of a mother's tenacity, a family's struggle with depression, and an unwavering fight against discrimination and ageism. Grace's journey will inspire, uplift, and resonate with readers as they delve into the complex and ever-relevant issues of our time.

I really love my kids and care for them but at times I swear they are mocking me especially when I put them to bed each night after they have had there fun terrorizing me they go to sleep but then they wake up and start ruining all my things it's so hard being a mom at the age of 24 I swear I feel like I'm older then my age normally but when it comes to my kids they always make sure mommy's legs work well lol I mean they are fun loving babies it's just there are days I need a drink or two there names are nova and Mya Mya is 3 and nova is 10 months they team up each night to make my life a living nightmare some times I be like ugh! I should have used the plan B but other nights they are my angles I swear without my kids I wouldn't even be alive today back then I use to struggle with depression and wanted to end my life badly and wished all my pain and suffering would go away but when I got pregnant things seem to have taken a different turn I began to change my thoughts and emotions rapidly I felt new and happy

That's why this book is called Grey's point of view. Please respect my opinion like I will respect yours. We can always discuss things you know. Anyways, enjoy my annoying life 😂
