One day, a woman's husband visits an old friend of his who lives in Mortimer Forest. The man who lived there left the room they had been sitting in to use the restroom. When he was in the restroom, he heard screaming. When he returned to see what had happened, the woman's husband was dead. When questioned, the man who lived there said this had happened a couple times before, and that the room was cursed. The woman, devastated by the loss of her husband, tried to find someone who could explain how her husband died. The police and even private investigators would not help her, but someone told her who might agree to help. Sean Blackheathe. Can Sean solve the mystery before more lives are lost? Is this really the result of a curse? Sean is determined to find out. This mystery will leave you guessing until the end.

On top of her past haunting her, her present is filled with a thief stealing souls and possibly upsetting the natural order of the world. Every so often she is given out on loan for humans looking for rare and exotic breeds. It never lasts long and each one brings her back. When she comes back she is allowed time to herself, safe in the little pet shop with no one the wiser of what she is. Life is easy and she is safe. Until one day a man walks into her little safe haven. He knows exactly what she is and despite her and Nick's arrangement, it looks like she'll be getting a new owner, indefinitely... **Author's Note: This is a short story.
