"You are a woman," said the female in front of her.
"You are a woman who made out of sweat, body, skin, hair. You are not a mistake, worker, w*ore, or even a toy. "
The midwife will call it mercy. She will hold a pillow over his face or put him outside for the frigid air to correct this mistake. He was never meant to be mine, but in that moment, I understand how much I love him.
I remember the day I was auctioned off like furniture and prizes. What was supposed to be a family outing turned out to be the very opposite. Not only did I have to give up my life for a man - but so did my three not so pretty sisters. Going to the market for anyone is a luxury - so I should have realized what was happening. Being looked upon at like prey and being examined for sexual quality and fertility. It was wrong - it is wrong... but it happened to my sisters and I. We became Master Adam's four little handmaids the same day we got coded.
Read Melanie's story.
Mom warned me I would eventually sleep my life away. Why didn't I listen?

We're all fed up, I know, but to go this far..?
To kill every man?
A little overkill, don't you think..?
Too early? Too early.
Enjoy, here's my second entry! I think it's better than the first one, but whatever!
When her family finds themselves down on their luck, a hard-working and ambitious teen sets out on a quest to help them, risking her own freedom by protesting the New Order's abolishment of women's rights.
Commissioned by THE HANDMAID'S TALE, a new Hulu Original series premiering April 26th.
It was a cold, rainy night. The wind blew swiftly as I put my wedding dress on. Usually people would be happy on their wedding day, but I'm not. I am getting married to a person whom I never even met before. The only thing I know about him is that he is a rich man who is twenty years older than me. Anyways, I have to marry him. It's my only option.
This book is for #theHandmaiden'stale
