This is my entry to the #MyHandmaidsTale Contest.

Short story for the 'My handmaids tale' contest. Set in a world where Men are separated from Women. But the men can choose one woman to be with from the age of 21. If you break the rules, you die.

Lorena Zahn failed the test. Her mediocre performance means she will not enter the elite training program to be a soldier. Instead, Lorena will go with all of the others who didn't make the grade to become human shields used to protect the country's precious soldiers from the enemy. It's a job assignment that means her life is almost over, unless Lorena shows the government she knows how to survive. #MyHandMaidsTale

In society today, women are still struggling to exercise rights over their own body. They are still striving to defy labels and dictates thrust on them by a male-driven sytem. So when a young woman is placed between a rock and a hard place, can she find hope in an impossible choice?

A short story I wrote for the #MyHandmaidsTale Contest. I wanted to write something simply because I wanted to contribute, more than anything. Like millions of others the story resonates with me in so many ways and that led me to writing this story. I hope you enjoy it.

At night, I tell her the stories. The candle with our only light flickers and I'm reminded of flashlights under blankets aiding impish children up past their bedtime. This is silly but serious work. Books and pens and note paper kept hidden under the floorboard. Contraband in the candlelight.

Margaret Atwood's novel, Handmaid's Tale, and TV series based on it are hot properties right now. Thought I might try to reimagine the Handmaid's perspective on the course of human events, with a little of the French Revolution thrown in.

A story about taken away right

Sara lives at Laudbury Manor. She is an employee there; however, one might ask what use a seventeen year old girl could be to an estate already full of maids and servants. The answer is simple; She belongs to someone. Not in a romantic way, no. She is the physical possession of man who knows nothing but his own carnal self-interests. My entry for #MyHandmaidsTale ••• Arïma VanWysse has recently reached the age of sixteen, the age when each female is separated from their families and sent to one of the female sectors based on their skills. Arïma is stripped of her identity, and is referred to by a number. She is assigned living quarters in what was once the US states of Utah (sector 4), Colorado (sector 5), and Nevada (sector 6). These three sectors are the worst of all, and only for women. In this torturous society, all women over age 16 are "put to good use to repopulate the world." Their job descriptions consist of one thing: sex. The best part of the job was working for kind men, which lifted the girls' spirits slightly.
