Kakayanin ko 'to. Paalam. - Ang Masokista

Dear Whoever-The-Hell-Would-Read-Someone's-Private-Journal, It was a regular day, I mean, until it wasn't. I mean, it wasn't even three weeks before- Ugh, I getting ahead of myself. I found this journal over in someone's locker, and I guess I'm in denial. The name's Arelene Owens, my friends call me Lena, so don't do that. I don't know where how to describe what happened, but I know where it began.. I was just a normal girl with a bad rep, and I would give anything, anything at all, to go back and redo everything. My parent's divorce, the rumors, my friends backstabbing me, it was just all too much, I guess. I snapped. Got into a fight, earned my first detention. That's where my spiral of self pity and my "bad girl" image took over my life. That's why I was there that day, that's why.. everything happened. Excerpt from Sabotage: Running towards my only safe haven, I was sure I had it made. Until I fell, hopelessly tangled in the roots of a towering willow tree, the branches dancing across my vision as I attempt to get my bearings again. I try to catch my breath as the surrounding darkness pressing in on me, suffocating me and driving away even the idea of a rational thought. The distant sound of footsteps is now sounding merely 100 feet away. As my heartbeat rapidly increases, I strain against my bonds, the looming shadow drawing ever closer, each step ringing in my ear like a gunshot. Mere moments after the set of feet, cloaked in a murky black cloud, enter my vision, silence. Shaking from head to toe, I slowly gaze upwards to the face of my doom, my destruction, hoping to at least catch a glimpse of my assailant, but all I can feel is a slight sense of wrongness, an alarm blaring somewhere off in the deep recesses of my mind, aching for me to leave this place of death and darkness. The figure has no face. In a vaguely high pitch, a wail calls out to me from the distance, almost drowning out the only words I've heard come from my reaper. "I'm sorry, Lena."

One day while her father is away, they are attacked and Nora and Amy are captured. Nora is thrust into this new world and is surprised to find that she fits in. At first, she wonders why her father kept her from it, but after an incident that kills the only friend that she has made in this new world, she begins to realize that this seemingly perfect world isn't so perfect after all

It was a nice and sunny Saturday morning, the sky was a clear blue with no cloud in sight. It was the perfect day for playing outside with friends. The temperature was perfect. The suburban neighborhood was perfect and every lawn was perfect with a perfect lamp at every perfect corner. The houses were all the same. The second moon rose over the mountained horizon. Bathing the land towards the calm sea in a golden light which danced with the slivery light of the first moon which was already at the peak of its arch. Yet even at this late hour, the revelry was still in high spirits across the land as the news spread from town to town of the joyous news. The people had been waiting on baited breath for the riders to be seen as the news was brought to their villages. Even the loneliest homestead was not forgotten, as hundreds of men raced across the land professing with great elation the news which would change their fortunes. The gods had spoken and through this new life, they would once again be great. They had been underestimated as a people for too long, seen as the barbarians, when if anything they were the most enlightened, allowing their gods to rule their fortune. Too long they had wasted in the dark, this was the blessing they had been waiting for. This was going to be the start of a new age. But what they did not realise was that as this joyous occasion was taking place, the turn in the act of the gods finally in their favour once more, was that an army was amassing, ready to make a final attempt to end the war which had waged between two nations for an eon it seemed. The turn in their fate may just have come too late it seemed. But this was not to be known as that silvery golden light shone down upon the merriment beneath the orbs above.

"The fanatic emphasis on 'Plan B' that professionals talk about is not a coward's fall-back system. It serves a purpose, a purpose that a strategist has envisioned and planned before the need for an alternate solution surfaces." ― Andy Paula When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right? Wrong. When life gives you lemons, you throw them right back and ask why the hell would you want lemons? They're gross and sour. Although, if life throws a curve-ball at you in the shape of a universe you didn't even know existed, you'd totally take it right? Just maybe not by choice. Maybe you'd fight a little, you'd go kicking and screaming. That's what Ripley did. Her whole life was thrown upside down in the blink of an eye and she had no idea what it actually mean to her, or to her family. She went from a normal school girl who worried about homework and what time she was going to the mall with friends to a girl who was wondering when she'd get a new blade or whether she'd be able to protect her family the next time the darkness came. Follow Ripley on her journey of self discovery, loss and abandonment in the first of the series 'The Dark Bridge'.
