Whenever Nathan talked to her over the phone, he seemed distant as if he was trying to push her away. So, she started to push him away as well, and she returned to the way she was before she had developed feelings for him. She went back to her old self, but somehow Sully convinced her to go with him to bail out Nate when he got thrown in jail again. Ellie, who wasn't even born when the Cordyceps outbreak first occurred. I thought that adjusting to the apocalypse was hard, I can't even imagine... this is all she knows... this dust and decay, this world, a ruin of what was a great and mighty nation.
