She wanted to get away from her abusers. She went to school that day, a normal day to everyone else around her, but to her and Kevin, it was their escape day. But it all went downhill in the first hour when a fire started in chemistry their first hour. And Raelynn wasn't fast enough to get out of the classroom until Kevin had to kick down the door with the teacher to pull Raelynn out. after school finished that day, they loaded the rest of the stuff into Kevin's vehicle while her cousin and aunt were at work and took off to move from Michigan to start fresh in Belen, New Mexico, a place where Raelynn grew up and wanted to go back. During the journey, when Kevin had gone into a gas station in Texas, he came back to find Raelynn missing. He looked frantically, called the cops, but the cops wouldn't do anything. Her phone was left in the passenger seat, but no sign of Raelynn in sight. He spent days looking for her when he started getting dreams, hearing her voice call to him to find her, and leave hints. At first, he thought he was going crazy, but then he realized maybe she was trying to reach him telepathically. Until one day, one of those dreams led him to the doorstep of the most wanted killer in all of Texas.
