A decade had passed since the war broke out. Eight years had passed since the final bomb was dropped. Seven years had passed until the downfall of humanity. Governments collapsed, unable to control their people. The world had been thrown into an anarchy, a barren, deadly wasteland where only the strongest could survive. And Raelynn wasn't fast enough to get out of the classroom until Kevin had to kick down the door with the teacher to pull Raelynn out. after school finished that day, they loaded the rest of the stuff into Kevin's vehicle while her cousin and aunt were at work and took off to move from Michigan to start fresh in Belen, New Mexico, a place where Raelynn grew up and wanted to go back. During the journey, when Kevin had gone into a gas station in Texas, he came back to find Raelynn missing. He looked frantically, called the cops, but the cops wouldn't do anything. Her phone was left in the passenger seat, but no sign of Raelynn in sight. He spent days looking for her when he started getting dreams, hearing her voice call to him to find her, and leave hints. At first, he thought he was going crazy, but then he realized maybe she was trying to reach him telepathically. Until one day, one of those dreams led him to the doorstep of the most wanted killer in all of Texas.
