It's been 30 since the dragons and the Vikings parted ways. They still kept a passive relationship, one helping the other when they needed it, but still from afar. So it's a shock to the Vikings when Orca, Toothless' eldest Son and the next Alpha, comes to them in a panic. One of Grimmel's descendants has followed their ancestors footsteps and has sworn to kill all Nightlights. One day a group of Vikings were formed. The Nightriders, they called themselves. No one knew their true identities, all they knew were that they picked up the old traditional of riding and training dragons. But not just any dragons, Nightlights.

A simple morning flight seemed to be the only adventure that day... until it wasn't. Lumia is a one of two nightlights in the world, but she was the only one that caught Toothless's eye. It was known that Toothless was the last Night Fury. In a sense it was poetic really, he was the last of his kind, forever living alone. He had traveled for a long time, almost ten years. That was until he was shot down from the sky after participating in a raid associated with the Red Mother. Toothless was alone in every sense other than having a friend by his side, Hiccup. He was still untrustworthy of the boy, finding offense in how his ability to fly was forever taken, but Hiccup had given him hope. A faux tail fin. Toothless found himself trusting the boy even more, a partnership that would never be severed was formed. It wouldn't ever change, and it never did. Night Furies were extinct, Fishlegs had come up with that. Until a night fury appeared on the island, Toothless had been confused. This triggers the story. What would happen if Toothless met another Night Fury?

The girl was actually running away from someone trying to kill her and the boy had helped her that night.
