Troubled by her past, Nonkululeko Zulu leaves her small town for the big city to go to university. But university is a place where, for one with her luck, danger lurks around every corner. Disclaimer: this book has a lot of Zulu (the language I speak) in it. There are translations almost every chapter though. If you are a really sensitive person, I highly advise you not to read this book. You'll cry your lungs out. Happy reading!! :-)

My name is Terri. I'm a 22 year old senior in college. I have managed to get away from my rapist. All I can remember is running with a limp down an empty street. I pulled my torn T-shirt onto my shivering body. I wiped the dripping liquid off of my legs, I assumed it was blood considering what had just happened to me. I was surrounded by trees. I stood in the middle of the road. I searched for street lights, head lights, any type of lights to help guide my way, but only darkness. I ran as fast as I could while still holding my clothes in place. I took as little breaths as possible. I didn't want him to hear me, I didn't want him to find me, I didn't want him to catch me. I could feel my heart racing; it was loud and fast. I heard the sound of a loud truck behind me. I knew the sound of that truck was familiar. It was HIM! I saw the beaming lights from the truck. I ran as fast as I could. I refused to look forward instead I ran looking backwards until suddenly I was running anymore. I felt myself falling and then suddenly everything went dark. I intend to get my memory back ! The question isn't Will I find him But what will I do when I find ?

Fourteen year old Kacey Vargas met seventeen year old Ryder Mitchell on one of those borderline days: in the first week of September, when the sun is locked in a battle with the wind for summer's last breath. She thought he was dangerous, he thought she was beautifully innocent, and Kacey believed that the rest would be history. But soon, fall winds started to blow across their relationship and Ryder started to change. He trapped her, he suffocated her in cigarette smoke, he knocked her down like a tree in a thunderstorm. Why? Because Ryder knew that the moment she saw autumn colors, she would decide to break free from his grasp.

In which the author explains why, exactly, William Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" is not a comedy and is, in fact, a tragedy that openly displays domestic abuse. POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNINGS: Discussion of domestic abuse, emotional abuse, gas lighting, and lack of consent in non-sexual situations. If you think I missed one, let me know.
