Synopsis - Life of an Orphan
Life of an Orphan is a deeply emotional coming-of-age tragedy that follows the life of Tariro, a bright and beautiful teenage girl whose world is shattered by family breakdown, betrayal, and loss.
At the beginning, Tariro lives what seems like a peaceful and loving life with her parents, Timothy and Sarah. She is intelligent, admired in her community, and focused on her education. However, her family begins to fall apart after a traumatic medical complication leaves Sarah unable to bear more children. This event triggers emotional distance, resentment, and instability within the household.
Timothy slowly transforms from a caring father into a violent and destructive man. He loses his job, turns to alcohol and drugs, and begins to abuse Sarah physically and emotionally. His mental decline is worsened when he becomes involved with another woman, further destroying the family's unity.
Despite enduring the abuse silently for the sake of her daughter, Sarah eventually loses her life after a brutal attack, leaving Tariro devastated and alone. The tragedy deepens when Tariro is forced to confront the reality of her mother's death while her father refuses to accept responsibility, instead attempting to hide his actions.
As Tariro struggles with grief, abandonment, and confusion, she finds herself trapped in a harsh world where the people she trusted most have failed her. The story explores how innocence is destroyed by domestic violence, how silence can become deadly, and how a young girl must survive emotional ruin while searching for strength and truth.
Life of an Orphan is a powerful tale of pain, resilience, and survival, setting the stage for Tariro's journey from heartbreak toward either healing-or further destruction-in the chapters to come.
