Persephone can't understand why everyone expects her to be upset at the sudden and mysterious death of her mother, she had always been brought up accepting death as a natural fact of life. With the threat of Child Protection Services looming, Persephone's father finally tells her what he and her mother had been up to in their little business in the industrial district. He had designed an automated room to euthanise people when they felt they had lived as much as needed, in an attempt to start combating overpopulation at a local level, hoping that someday the idea would not be taboo and he could operate his business openly. When Persephone's father has a breakdown and abandons her the truth comes out for the world to see, and the next few days are a whirlwind for Persephone, who spends a night in hospital, moves in with a grandmother and aunt she never knew she had, is interviewed by police and is finally taken to her father's trial to give evidence, all the while contemplating the moral issues brought up by what her father has done, and whether anyone is truly evil, deciding that if her father was trying to do what he thought was right, he shouldn't be punished. At the trial it is revealed that the automated room her father had been using to kill people was triggered by a signal sent from his home every time Persephone turned the television on, realising that she was responsible for hundreds of deaths Persephone breaks down. The next few weeks see Persephone building a new life for herself with her grandmother and aunt, having grown up considerably since her mother's death, still conflicted over what her father had done, and wondering what she should do next. Into the Gloaming has previously been long listed for the QWC/Allen and Unwin Manuscript Development Award, and the QWC/Hachette Manuscript Development Award.

There were simple rules, really; a Nightmare must not crossed the line of haunting nor ever kill their assigned Guardian, and a Guardian must not, ever, went against a child's beliefs nor ever kill their assigned Nightmare. Ashleigh, as unaware as the rest of the children, had a pair of the oddest Guides amongst others. A passive Guardian with a horrible grief buried deep in his core, and the strongest Nightmare with an obsession towards mint ice-creams. When Ashleigh suddenly went missing on Sunday afternoon with no tracks and things went horribly awry in her household, the two Guides, whether they liked it or not, must team up together to save their child. Even when it meant being hunted down as fugitives, breaking work protocols, interrupting lucid dreams, or even getting sidetracked by ice-creams. Both have seen horrible things, Both have been through more then any child should have to go through. One night, Delilah was sitting at home with her mother when breaking news came flashing on their television. Her father had been arrested once again by the Dark Knight of Gotham City, Batman and his Boy Wonder, Robin. This wasn't big news for Delilah. She had to witness her father being taken away several times in her young life and it just got to the point that it didn't faze her anymore. In fact, she didn't care. If her father didn't care enough to stay out of prison to be with his family, then she didn't care if he ever came home again. This was the life she was dealt, and everyone knew who Delilah was. Calling her Riddler Jr. or Little Riddler. Those are names she can't stand. She was nothing like her father, in fact, she hates riddles. After hearing about her father's arrest, Delilah, knowing it was a bad idea, went out to get some fresh air. That's when things got a little... hostel. As usual people recognized her. "Get out of here Little Riddler! No one wants you here!!" This usual assault didn't bother Delilah one little bit. It wasn't until the laid their hands on her. That's when all hell broke loose. Delilah did all she could to defend herself, bu these guys were determined to make sure she got the message. "I'm not like him. I'm not like my father, so why? Why are they doing this to me?" As the beating continued, it suddenly stopped. Delilah looks up to see one of Gotham City's dynamic duo Robin. After that, everything changed for Delilah, but was it for the better or worse.
