In a realm where the gods had forsaken their followers, most are content to hold their faith. Chants of praises and offerings of the finest quality reached the ceiling of cathedrals, in hopes that the gods would one day return to their unwavering faith. The gods have yet to return or reply.
Aelita Tenebris silently rejected the ideals of her peers, unable to comprehend why she should continue to adore the idea of the Celestial's return, believing that there are other aspects worth her time. Yet she kept her head low, not wanting to be shunned by her community.
Preparing for a festival, Aelita Tenebris was sent to the forest to collect wild flowers. The forest was unusually empty at that time of the year. When she turned to return to the village, a strong gust of wind led Aelita to a unique yet petalless flower.
Reaching out to the flower, time ripped beneath Aelita's feet and the world warped and melted into one another. Through the petalless flower, Aelita discovered that other worlds existed beyond her own. The gods who forsakened her homeworld thrived in the glory presented to them by the other worshippers, blissfully ignorant of the desperate pleas of a forgotten population.
As she travelled through each world, memories of a life she hadn't lived began to seep into her mind, warping her understanding of everything. Amidst the confusion and the travels, a question formulated in her head.
What good are gods who abandoned their followers?
