Katara dislikes being confined to the home of her father, the head chieftain of the Southern Water Tribe, after her mother's death and eventually sneaks out in disguise and meets and befriends the nephew of the local tea merchant while remaining unaware of the ramifications of her actions. Disclaimer - I don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender. This is one of my ONC projects for 2024 and a giftfic for my friend Kelsey Alicia. For this story I am using prompt fifty-five, "you're a young royal in disquise who befriends a villager with a scarred face. One day they are arrested for stealing something you gave to them." Note - While I choose to ignore anything from LoK or the comics that retcons AtLA content I'm not against using content that doesn't, hence the use of existing Southern Water Tribe characters from the comics in addition to creating new ones, but certainly none of this strange idea of a tribe being a colony of another tribe or a tribe voting their chieftain(s) in instead of the tradition of heredity and/or earning the position through ones own merit. As such, the Southern Water Tribe is reverted to an actual sister tribe to the Northern Water Tribe, aka an actual tribe rather than a colony and Hakoda is back to being the head chieftain as implied by what Sokka says about being the equivalent to a prince in his tribe to Princess Yue which, on top of the fact there's no way Hakoda would have gotten that many boats from a single village, indicates Hakoda was always head-chieftain.

Now he has to work out what happened, and decide what to do about the handsome man who seems so interested in him, but doesn't actually exist. When Jennisa delivers a spaceship database to a suspicious group, she covertly takes a copy of the group's files when she helps them connect it. She gets far more than she bargained for when the young spaceship AI figures out how to use her Bluetooth implant to communicate with her. To further complicate matters, the AI wants nothing to do with the suspicious group and finds her work absolutely fascinating. And the group isn't happy about that... Standalone novella. After years of struggling to make it as an actor, Daniel Shephard is finally about to make it big. He's landed the lead in a superhero movie. He's about to be Captain Universe with the whole world. That is, if he can make it to his agent in time to sign the contract. Which is easier said than done, as Daniel wakes up, only a few days before the need to sign the contract, in a locked room with no escape. He doesn't know who's abducted him or why. The only clue he has is the manuscript pushed in under the door. A script so terribly bad, it physically pains him to read it. Now Daniel is forced to act out the script--while wearing increasingly ludicrous costumes--and deliver a performance of a lifetime, to appease the manic author who has him trapped, before he loses his spot in the limelight. *** This is an ONC story, using prompt #6: Walking down the street, a stranger approaches you. I made it through the first two rounds, but didn't finish to qualify for the final round. It's also the prequel to "The Marvels of Prairie Creek." :D

Despite having this popularity and praise, though, the empty Jude still desires something more than fighting the same enemies and saving the same people every damned time. And then everything changes after meeting Prema, a young lady of the Hantri tribe. Upon getting to know her, Jude becomes conflicted; Prema is nothing like the savages in the stories he's been told. In fact, Jude starts losing the ability to hold on to his beliefs. Should he trust his friends and family? Should he listen to his enemies? Through magical scuffles and internal struggles, Jude strives to figure out who he's truly meant to be, who the "good guys" of this world are. With rising tension between civilizations, however, such a task is way harder than it sounds. But then he learns the truth. The truth about the kingdom, the empire, and the tribe. The truth about magic in this nation. The truth about people.
