As a student of Grand Line college, Luffy had to leave behind the fantasies he lived in since he was a child. That doesn't mean he didn't like them any less, but reality is something he learned to acknowledge over time. Still, he turns back to those fantasies time and time again whenever he needs a break. There's a certain book he treasures with his body and soul. A book about pirates and fantastic seas, which he once wished he could navigate as the characters within the story.
