The night echoed with the sound of hurried footsteps as she ran. Her breath came in ragged gasps as she clutched her bag tightly against her chest, fear driving her forward. Her legs trembled, but she didn't dare stop. The darkness behind her felt alive, as though it was chasing her.
Then she saw them.
Nearly thirty men dressed in black stood in the secluded valley, forming a silent wall around a single figure.
He stood at the center, tall, unmoving and commanding.
The faint glow of the moon revealed the scars that marked one side of his face. A few strands of hair had fallen across his forehead, but his expression remained unreadable as he watched the terrified girl stumble toward them.
The men instantly moved, ready to intercept her. But before anyone could react, she rushed straight past them.
Shock spread across every face. Because no one has ever approached their boss without permission. No one even dared stand too close to him.
Yet this frightened girl grabbed his wrist and pulled him toward the rocky edge of the valley, for the first time, the men froze, because how their boss allowed it, they didn't even understand?
The girl didn't even look properly at his face. Her entire body shook with panic. Desperate. Terrified.
And then, in a moment that left the entire valley speechless, she rose on her toes and pressed her lips against his and kissed him.
Silence fell there.
Complete silence.
The world seemed to stop. The men stared as though lightning had struck before their eyes. And the man?
He stood utterly still. Not because of the kiss.
But because no one had ever looked at him the way she did in that moment, not with affection, not with admiration, but with the desperate trust of someone who believed he
was the only safe place left in the world.
The girl's trembling fingers tightened around his coat as tears fililed her eyes. "Please..." she whispered, her voice breaking. "Don't let them take me."
