The Miraculous Inventor was writtten to examine fear and loss. Its main theme the idea of pre-determinism which drove the era in which they lived has shaped the book. From the work of Omar Khayyam his contemplations and moving on to the inspirations that built the golden age; the inheritance of loss and fear of loss both feature as driving forces in this compelling look at the 12th Century. To plan to build a world with the looming fear of attach and still under those constraints being able to salvage everything to remain. Attack is seen in its different guises, so is the nature of attack. We see this feature in different forms such as theft, spying, lying, fraud and contempt. These striking forces focus in on the Mongolian invasion of Afghanistan in 1220. Despite the book being set about a King and Queen, the very real and raw life that evolved in that era bites at the local village where people are already planning their parts in the future. The restraining forces give King Muhammed an alternative to his fight and fear of losing his kingdom to the Mongols. He sees escape and love in one image. He organises himself to lose in battle, but not his fortune or his love.
