The Earth is dying, yet humanity survives. Pollution and radiation run rampant on the surface. The government rations food and clean air for everyone. The glass domes provide some sense of security, but they are only for the rich who can afford the astronomical price of providing precious clean air to a whole city. Nym and her family live outside the dome when the disease breaks out. Spreading through the Minor City Shelter and then to Shelter's around other cities, nothing seems capable of stopping it. People are going mad and dying off like flies. There's no cure they can find. They only know one thing. Their last precious resource is going to be the death of them. After she turns 18, she began having those weird dreams. Like someone is calling out on her, asking her for help. Until that day and her destiny entrusted. Now she doesn't know what's the truth in reality. So many questions flooded inside her head when the red dragon swallowed the sword, and the dragon entered her heart forcefully. When she opens her eyes the following day, her dad reveals the world where he came from. It seems that the other Dragon Sword with the bluestone is the only connection to this world and the other world across the universe... whom her dad lost ownership 15 years ago because the Twin Dragon Sword chooses a new owner who will sit the throne and will rule all the Kings in the land. Firstborn is who will sit on the throne and rule the world. "Now that no one sits on the throne, the 5 Guardians will be asleep forever... the dark force outside the Great Continent will earn a strength to walk our land freely, do you wanna do this?" Shortlisted for the Open Novella Contest 2019 • Being a Supervillain is tough. Between managing a secret lair and making sure your mom doesn't stop loving you because you keep telling everyone she's dead, it's a really hard business to be good at? Add to that, the fact that somehow you got arrested because your cat sitter didn't take the day off and then you go around expressing your unconditional love for pancakes in a Super holding cell because technically they can't put you in a proper prison and you don't really have a choice because lawyers are expensive? And then, you realise your best friend is plotting go take over your spot as the greatest villain there ever was? Okay, maybe not the greatest, but you do come pretty close to it! To top it off, there's that one Superhero who's just so completely gorgeous, you couldn't imagine any harm coming to them? Because they're just that precious? I guess that makes me a Supervillain with minor time travel superpowers and a huge crush on a not so powerful Superhero? And all you have to do is protect yourself and everyone you love from your ex best friend/sidekick --because let's face it that's the highest level of praise for a wretched traitor here--and you also have to get out of Super Holding somehow? What could go wrong? Right?

Anubis trailed the finger up her jaw and laid it beneath her ear. "I'll see you around," he whispered, ghosting his lips over the shell of her ear. Things are looking up for Carter. After months of serving coffee, fixing equipment, and just trying to be noticed as an intern, everything was falling into place. He spent day after day sucking up to his bosses until they finally started to take him seriously as a mechanic. Now at long last, he had been given his first real mission aboard the only large expedition to Tau Ceti, a recently discovered star system that was believed to have hospitable planets. The readings from drones had been very promising. Now Carter had the honor to be a part of the effort to discover uncharted land. His dream was finally coming true. But the shuttle hardly makes it out of the atmosphere before it all comes crashing down. Literally. Aboard the only surviving escape pod Carter and a group of crew members crash land on a small island in the middle of the ocean. Their radios are silent, their supplies are limited, they have no idea where they are. It seems like things can't get any worse. Until Carter realizes they're not alone on the island.
