Ever since her mother died from cancer when she was 8, Spencer has lived through a tough time. Ever since she was little, she has been ill with a condition that can only get worse if she stops treatment. She helps her Dad, who's a doctor, try and find a cure for her illness. But everything changes when the doctors say she's getting worse, believing she'll probably only have a year left to live. So her dad wisks her away to a new town, new city, new school for a fresh start so she can have the time of her live while she still can. While she's there, she meets new friends, a girl who only has enough confidence to go to school, and a boy who she falls for each time she sees him. Struggling, Spencer makes a pact with herself to live as long as she can, for her father, a girl who needs her, the boy she's loves, and especially for herself.
