June is Pride Month! Show your pride! 🏳️‍🌈❤️ This was originally my submission to #WattPride (2018) #UnlimitedPride (2019), but has morphed into a yearly celebration of pride, the community, and even my own experience as a young queer person. it is a love letter to every LGBTQ+ kid that i wish i could've read when i was first figuring myself out. enjoy and spread love, not fear or hate ❤️

Short story entry for the Tunes of Pride 2022 contest. True love could save her, the witch had said. For there wasn't a more powerful magic in the world. Weren't the concerned gazes and little acts her staff did for her true love? Why hadn't she transformed yet then? She knew the answer. The witch meant something like what Mrs Potts and Fifi had. Or Lumière and Cogs-worth. It was laughable. If she were to head to town right now she'd be the villain who kidnapped little kids in the stories the mothers told their children. If she already wasn't. True love was like touching the sky. Unattainable. Impossible. Until she comes.

Corey was a 16 year old boy, living with his father in a house in a shady part of the town. Corey was almost never home, spending his spare time in alleyways with his best friend Keir. Corey and Keir had known each other since they were children, spending practically every second with each other. Corey was happy with Keir, spending lots of time with him and his family up until Corey's mother sadly passed due to stage 3 cancer. After the incident, Corey wouldn't dare enter Keir's house, knowing how close their mothers used to be. Corey slowly began to grow on Keir, making him realize that he had also grown a crush on Keir. But he couldn't be gay.. could he? "I just want someone to watch the world burn with"

Laney Rubia is paired up with the most unlikely partner for her English class. Nora "The Nerd" Lovegood. Known as the school's resident nerd and diehard Harry Potter fan, Nora is an easy target for the jocks and popular kids. Even the unpopular kids bully her. Determined to just get through the project, Laney tries to keep on the down low about her pairing up with Nora but Nora isn't afraid to show it off. Actually she isn't afraid of much. Maybe spiders. And public speaking. And reaching the bottom of a tub of ice cream and realizing there's no more left. Other than that, she's seemingly oblivious to what's going on around her and to her.
