First day. New school. Fresh start. No one here knows me, which is honestly kind of perfect. Like... I can just exist without people already having an opinion. No awkward memories following me around, no expectations, just me, figuring things out as I go. Switching schools right before high school should feel scary, but it doesn't. Not really. Especially because my childhood best friend is here. And through them, I somehow end up in this whole friend group that's loud and chaotic and actually really fun. It's the kind of group where people talk over each other, laugh at stupid things, and somehow make everything feel less overwhelming. And for once, I'm not trying too hard. I'm just... there. But obviously, it's not all that simple. It never is. Because some people are confusing. Some moments feel like they mean more than they should. And there's always that one person who gets under your skin for no reason at all, like, you don't even want to think about them, but somehow you still do. Anyway. It's just high school, right?
