Being the new kid is always hard, and so far, Andy hasn't really had much luck. Finding friends in a few people that're constantly getting harassed by the other students, constantly being referred to as the 'freaks' or the 'outcasts' of the school, Andy's luck just keeps getting worse and worse, not just with his school life. Having found a bit of interest in a particular girl, Andy knows there could never be anything there, as she's already taken by the most popular guy in school; one of the people that harasses Andy and his friend group. This friend group, are they really the right people to be hanging around, or will it just end up causing Andy more trouble than it's worth?

Though they're not quite the same as his friends back home, Andy knows they won't let him down and they'll stand behind him no matter what. But the main question remains: will Andy manage to survive this new life down in California, or will something go wrong? ***Takes place after 'Outcast'***

There is Kellin Quinn, who was forced to go to a boarding school by his horrible parents that were just begging to get away from him. Vic Fuentes, who finds himself being in love with his roommate, who happens to be a guy. Austin Carlile, who's going through a bad divorce and is becoming more depressed by the second, but finds a friend, Jack Barakat, who was just kicked out of the house by his mother because he couldn't hold himself a job. Then there's Oli Sykes, living the life in England with his million dollar clothing company. When the apocalypse hits, their lives change for the worst and they have to find a way to survive. When their stories come together, will everyone be able to find their way to safety? Or will they be running forever?

Kellin Quinn has been heartbreakingly in love with his closest friend, Vic Fuentes, for over a year now and it is killing him to live his life while keeping such a huge part of him hidden. But there are two problems stopping him let Vic know of his feelings: Vic is in a happy relationship with his supermodel girlfriend and Kellin is scared to hurt his own boyfriend, Jack Barakat.

Then he starts to notice small things. Like Vic cringing when people raise their hand or voice. The small bruises that show up on Vic's body. Or the fact that the boy doesn't talk unless Brenden is there. He doesn't smile, he doesn't laugh. Vic had been through enough over the summer. His parents asking him questions and treating him like a child. It was bad enough he had the scars to prove he tried to kill himself. He is giving everything up to please someone he's not in love with. He misses Kellin. But he can't go back. Vic is too broken. He's lost. He needs Kellin to save him again. But what if it's too late?
