Between Rubble and Prayer is a collection of deeply personal poems inspired by the lives of ordinary people enduring the devastation of war in Gaza. Told through imagined first-person voices, each poem explores a different story-a grieving parent, a frightened child, a lone survivor, a devoted believer, a doctor, a neighbour, or someone clinging to hope amid unimaginable loss. These poems are not intended to document any one person's experience. Instead, they seek to honour the resilience, faith, love, grief, and humanity that can endure even in the darkest of circumstances. Through themes of family, loss, remembrance, patience (*sabr*), and unwavering trust in Allah, the collection reflects on what it means to hold onto hope when everything else has been taken away. From the silence left by empty homes to whispered du'as beneath broken skies, every page invites the reader to pause and remember that behind every headline are people with names, dreams, families, and stories. Between Rubble and Prayer is a poetic meditation on suffering and compassion, and a reminder that even in the shadow of destruction, faith can remain unbroken, love can outlive loss, and the human spirit can continue to bear witness.

However, after Hamas' devastating attack against Israel on October 7th, the subsequent anti-Palestinian hate makes it clear to Isa that he has a tough battle ahead of him. To make matters worse, a Zionist gang called the "Defenders of Zion" forms to intimidate the Muslim community and businesses that support Palestine or are owned by Palestinians. Coming from a land that has been subjected to colonization, occupation, and genocide, Isa knows all too well that the only way to continue existing is to start resisting. So with the help of his friends from all sorts of faiths--including Islam and Judaism--he forms his own group to fight back against the "Defenders of Zion." But will Isa succeed, when he's already getting hate from all sides?

Missing things that are needed, and yet you can't say anything, they're choking you though not in a direct way, your sitting on the ground, with your ripped pants and shirt, but it's not because it's the new fashion no its something entirely different, it's because of them, they stopped all the suppliers from helping you out, they took control over water and food, over electricity and other important things. Yesterday, 15th March, marked the 3rd year of the Syrian revolution. We've all read the news, seen the statistics, but it's robbed us of the human factor. Those are innocent people, children and families that are torn apart, destroyed and wrecked. We need to open up our eyes to reality. Honestly, if you even caught a glimpse of what's really going on, you wouldn't sit tight. Not meant to be offensive; this is me doing my part in raising awareness. And do your part; prayers and whatever you can give. Its not only Syria, its Gaza and West Bank and Waziristan and so many more places. Spread the word. Stand up.
